With 'the best restaurant view in the city by far' and plenty to see among the patrons too, 20 Stories can be an eye-popping experience. Literally towering above its nearest rival for glitz (ahoy down there, The Ivy Spinningfields!), it's got all the rooftop cocktails and golden light a socialite could wish for. But the kitchen team aren't just doing it for the 'gram. They've got the chops when it comes to an à la carte menu loaded with good Northern produce and well-grounded technique, as in braised pork belly with fondant potato, charred leek and a smoked pork sauce. You're paying for the food and the view, so a pre-theatre deal of three courses for £35 is worth considering for 'well-made classics' such as charred mackerel with fennel and dill salad followed by roast chicken suprême (perhaps with sage pomme purée, braised Roscoff onion and an emphatically chickeny gravy). Dessert is a highlight: vanilla panna cotta with BBQ peach or a lemon tart featuring a 'fabulous' raspberry sorbet on the side. Exhibitionists will love the wine list, but moderates are also accommodated.
