Seafood cookery is in Lino Poli’s blood, and he has built up some dependable supply lines for fresh fish over the years (despite his restaurant’s landlocked location). Bright and breezy colours and nautical artwork set the tone in the dining room, while the kitchen ventures far and wide for inspiration. Kick off by nibbling your way through some meze, fried squid with Thai dipping sauce or veggie spring rolls before going ‘small’ or ‘large’ on the bigger dishes – perhaps baked scallops with spinach, 'nduja and garlic butter, herb-crumbed halibut with celeriac purée or plain fish and chips. There are a few dishes for meat eaters and vegetarians too (grilled sirloin steak, butternut squash curry etc). A separate line-up of pizzas harks back to the restaurant’s former life as local Italian favourite Firenze, while desserts usher in familiar staples such as crème brûlée, panna cotta and ‘death by chocolate’. Alternatively, take your seat at the Captain's Table for a tasting menu of five courses selected by the chef. Midweek suppers are a bonus, as are monthly paella nights (complete with tapas and sangria). Wet your whistle with a snazzy aperitif before picking from the wide-ranging wine list.
