The original Cley Smokehouse remains a fixture in the pretty village of the same name, but check out its café-deli offspring at Manor Farm Barns just inland at Glandford. Buy crab, kippers, smoked prawns, mackerel, salmon (and more besides) to go, but also stay for a short menu of light bites. Smoked fish leads with way, as you’d expect, perhaps in an open gravlax sandwich on sourdough with dill mustard dressing, or a leafy salad bolstered by smoked mackerel, beetroot, croûtons and horseradish sauce. Cakes are produced on site, and service throughout is warm and welcoming. There are tables 'under the sail' in warmer weather for pizzas, which are cooked to order in the new wood-fired oven.
